During one of my one-on-one sessions today, I got into a conversation about happiness. I explain to Magda, one of the Polish participants, how I've arrived here in Poland and where I plan on going next (figuratively and literally). I explain to her that I don't know what I'm looking for but it is the search that makes me happy. She says to me "You may spend years chasing something that doesn't exist. You should just be happy with what you have now." Magda is a biotechnology student and smart as a whip but we had to agree to disagree on this one.
I don't know how you become quotable in this life but here's my first entry for consideration:
Settling for second best just isn't good enough and it's definitely not something to set your sights on.
Spoken like a winner Hennigan. Sounds like the search is taking you wild and wonderful places, and that's just the broken English conversations. Indy June x
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree with Magda :) And in your case - if you're feeling happy while chasing something you don't know what you're chasing, then you're doing exactly what she suggests, aren't you? :)
